<blockquote><p><em><a href="http://www.midlifetransits.com/blog/2009/09/17/kanye-kanye/"><strong>Lesson #1: If you’ve got Saturn in Leo, keep your ego in check</strong>.</a>
Saturn in Leo can mean all kinds of things, but one of the things it
can mean is you gotta keep that ego in check. Because Saturn in the
sign that rules the egomaniac in all of us indicates that the ego can
become a burden, a hindrance, an obstacle and a general source of bad
moodness all around if it’s not turned into discipline and
self-control.That’s partly because West having Saturn in this sign
indicates it’s not exactly ego in the positive sense of
self-confidence, but an ego born out of Saturn’s specialties: fear,
insecurity, and a driving sense of need. And that just doesn’t work all
that well, as things so frequently don’t when Saturn’s got the reins.<br /><strong>Lesson #2: If your Jupiter and sun in Gemini are opposite your
Neptune in Sagittarius, somehow you gotta teach yourself how to keep
your lips zipped sometimes.</strong> It’s great to have Jupiter
conjunct sun usually, although it does have a tendency to inflate the
sense of self. But when you’ve got a blabbermouth sun and a
blabbermouth Jupiter opposing a blabbermouth Neptune, things can
occasionally get out of control. Sagittarius is known for its blunt
willingness to speak its mind, even when other people wish it wouldn’t.
It’s an impulsive sign as well. This honesty can be all well and good,
or at least useful on occasion. But Neptune is also the planet that
will get itself all tangled up in delusions, and Neptune in Sagittarius
will happily spout those delusions given an eighth of a chance. </em><br /></p></blockquote> <p style="clear:both;">

<p><a href="http://jeffreykishner.com/astrology/love/2008/07/are-you-better-off-being-single-part.html">Part 1 of a series. </a><br /><blockquote><blockquote><p><br /><em>I have my planets of identity (Sun) and relationship (Venus) in my
Seventh House -- plus my chart ruler is conjunct my Descendant -- so
partnership to me feels like an essential nutrient. But many people
prefer being alone. Is it by choice ... or inability to maintain a
satisfying relationship?<br /></em><p><em>Some people find that their commitment
to work or a creative pursuit leaves little room in their lives for the
demands of relationship. An occasional fling or one-night stand, yes --
but not the hard work that goes into <em>maintenance</em>.<br /></em></p><p><em>If
you work full time and then come home to churn out your novel or
practice guitar, how can you also have the time and energy for another
person? The more hours you spend with a partner, the less you have for
your art or career. And what if you&#39;re a single parent who&#39;s hesitant
to potentially destabilize your children&#39;s lives?<br /></em></p><p><em>Some things may be more important to you than carrying on a romance. <em>But maybe you just suck at relationships!</em>
It&#39;s important to know the difference, because permanent retreat from
intimacy due to a disastrous love life should not be confused with
&quot;having greater priorities.&quot;<br /></em></p><em>You can&#39;t blame the planets for
your relationship life, but a look at their placements in your natal
chart can indicate what&#39;s behind the difficulty with being partnered.</em><br /></p></blockquote></blockquote>First off, Neptune:<br /><blockquote><div><br /><p><em><strong>Neptune, <a href="http://jeffreykishner.com/astrology/love/pisces-man.html">Pisces</a> and the Twelfth House</strong>
all share the theme of sacrifice. If you have this archetype prominent
in your chart, you may have a tendency to give up nearly everything for
your partner. You idealize them or take care of them, setting aside
your own needs to put them first. You might derive pleasure from giving
of yourself, but at what cost? What about your dreams, your
aspirations? The danger of this pattern is that you neglect your own
growth by putting all your attention on someone else.<br /></em></p><em>Yes,
sometimes the role of the person behind the scenes -- who props up the
superstar -- is essential in its own right, and you are well suited for
it. But other people are simply codependent or attached to the role of
the martyr. If this is you, it does not necessarily mean you are better
off single. However, this is a core pattern that you may not be able to
overcome by yourself. There are 12-step groups for codependents, and
psychotherapy can be helpful. But you are better off being alone </em><em>for a while
if you cannot help but fall into the same pattern again and again. If
you keep attracting losers, it could be a sign that you&#39;re sending out
the wrong signals.</em><br /></div></blockquote>Right off the bat, I&#39;m thinking, &quot;there&#39;s my mom.&quot; Sure enough, she has Venus opposed to Neptune, Pisces on the 7th house cusp and Pisces moon on the descendant. She is the QUEEN of this one.<br /><div><br /></div></p> <p style="clear:both;">

<div>I always claim to like &quot;nitpicky&quot; astrology books (i.e. not the ones that tell you that Tauruses like to eat and Virgos love to clean and that&#39;s it), and buying a title like this is about as nitpicky as I have ever gotten.<br /><br />I mentioned earlier about reading <a href="http://fullmoon.vox.com/library/post/uranus-and-commitment-o-phobia.html">Astrology of Intimacy, Sexuality and Relationship</a><br />by Noel Tyl, he who &quot;rediscovered&quot; the quindecile. Wanting to know more about this, I ordered the book his protege wrote on the subject.<br /><br />I&#39;d probably give it some like a B, were I to rate books around here. It&#39;s not a bad resource (pretty much the only one out there beyond the mentions in Tyl&#39;s books, so it&#39;s not like there are other options!), but it could be better.<br /><br />The author mainly works in &quot;code words&quot;, which are not my favorite thing ever because I tend to like more complicated (dare I say, nitpicky?) explanations for concepts. However, I do understand that some people love code words and that works great to give them a basic understanding of the combinations. So that&#39;s not bad, and there&#39;s a bit more explanation of the concepts in the back of the book.<br /><br />Examples of the code word system she seems to use (and repeat frequently):<br /><blockquote><ul><li>Scorpio = control, transformative ideas, regeneration</li><li>Taurus = tangible means</li><li>Cancer = all the people, family and people</li><li>Sagittarius = philosophies and belief systems<br /></li><li>Uranus = disruption of the status quo w/intuitive ideas</li><li>Venus = aesthetics &amp; kinship and collaboration</li><li>Jupiter = excess, expansion and growth</li><li>Neptune = sensitivity, illusive, imaginary, ideal<br /></li></ul></blockquote>So me trying to put them together to figure out what my quindeciles mean translates into:<br /><blockquote><ul><li>Uranus in Scorpio (disruption of the status quo through control)</li><li>Venus in Taurus (aesthetics and kinship through tangible means)</li><li>Neptune in Sagittarius (sensitivity with philosophies and belief systems)</li><li>Jupiter in Cancer (excess, expansion and growth within the family)</li></ul></blockquote>I don&#39;t know about you, but to me that&#39;s all kind of a mouthful to say, much less to really get a mental hold of. <br /><br />It&#39;s slightly better in the back index:<br /><blockquote><p><em>&quot;Venus (the need to cooperate and collaborate) quindecile Uranus (disruption of the status quo through unique and innovative ideas)- May be driven toward constant stimulation and excitement in one&#39;s relationships. May be sexually flirtatious and a risk taker. Can have trouble with intimacy and monogamous relationships. May be unpredictable and erratic in financial matters. Benefit comes through development of a unique sense of style and an intense focus on self-worth issues. May possess avant garde artistic talent that expresses one&#39;s style.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Jupiter (excess, expansion and growth) quindecile Neptune (seeking the illusive, imaginary, and ideal)- May be driven by indulgences, addictions, escapism, and idealism. May use illusion or deceit to gain advantage. May be continuously dissatisfied because of a dream of the ideal. Benefit comes through the pursuit of one&#39;s spiritual philosophies and benefits. May be artistically sensitive and creative.</em>&quot;<br /></p></blockquote>On the con side, she doesn&#39;t cover South Nodes, IC&#39;s, or descendants in this book. It seems odd to me to not mention them, given the heavy play she gives to their counterparts. She claims &quot;not to be an expert on the South Nodes&quot; and that is why she leaves them out. This irritated me. Honestly, it&#39;s not hard to learn about the one while you&#39;re doing the other. And I felt it was a weakness to leave these details out. (I will admit to being biased, since I have a quindecile with the IC and uh, would have been nice to have found out about that.)<br /></div> <p style="clear:both;">

Uranus to itself can result in a person specializing. Principally they
will specialize in being themselves, but he added that such transits
(Uranus opposite Uranus at age 40 or so, for example) will be the time
a butcher decides to specialize in lamb and the green grocer
specializes in grapes. Finally, we get to hang up a big sign that says,
“I am me.”</p><p>He made a point that I found truly worth repeating — at these moments,
this process of being oneself must resonate in some way with the
collective; that is, it’s not Being Me in a self-serving way but rather
in a way that works for the community as well. You must maintain your
objectivity, or in losing (or failing to gain) it, you run the risk of
becoming evil. This is not an overstatement: that objectivity, which I
would describe as the ability to see oneself and the other fairly, is
what makes it safe to have creative power. I don’t think there is true
objectivity but what I think he means is the ability to be witness to
yourself; and through that, gradually learn a kind of impartiality.</em><br /></p></blockquote> <div><br /></div> <p style="clear:both;">
